What is VAWC Assessment?

We conduct objective psychological evaluations for cases involving violence against a woman or her children. We document the psychological and emotional effects of the abuse to support protection orders and related legal proceedings — always with care and strict confidentiality.

The law behind it — RA 9262

RA 9262 is the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. It protects women and their children from abuse by a husband, partner, boyfriend, or former partner — including someone they share a child with or had a dating relationship with.

The law recognises four kinds of abuse: physical, sexual, psychological, and economic. This means abuse is not only hitting. Threats, intimidation, humiliation, controlling behaviour, and withholding money can also count as abuse under the law.

“Psychological violence” is named directly in the law. Because of this, a psychological report can help show the emotional harm a victim has suffered. To keep victims safe, a court can also issue a Protection Order.

RA 9262 places mandatory-reporting duties on certain professionals. GWI follows these duties while protecting your privacy at every step.
