Dr. Frances Mae Gumapon-Lua is a board-certified psychiatrist currently practicing in Cebu City. She earned her degree of Doctor of Medicine at the Cebu Institute of Medicine and had her residency training in Psychiatry at the Center for Behavioral Sciences in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. She is a mental health advocate who is passionate about stigma reduction and mental health education and she believes that mental health is a human right. This is reflected not only in her clinical practice but also in her work as an assistant professor at the Mattias H. Aznar School of Medicine and in her research endeavors. Outside of work, she enjoys watching theater productions, photography, and writing poetry and fiction, using art and self-expression as a way to promote mental well-being.
